This is a series of 4 polymer prints resulted from my Master thesis entitled: Industrial archaeology: a touristic itinerary of the province of Syracuse. The thesis explores dismantled and forgotten industrial places in Sicily in order to bring to life tangible traces left by human activity on the landscape and the environment. Departing from this material exploration I undertake a more intangible exploration of these spaces. The outcome is a series of 5 prints that record my emotions, impressions and thoughts that have guided and accompanied me during this exploration period. The method used is non-toxic and the support is polymer. From a methodological perspective my works refuse the destiny of succumbing to their industrial past and undertake instead the harsh task of re-writing the memories of these places a statement not of succumbing but of freedom – freedom from their burdensome past and from their forgotten future.
